On May 18, the S&T Diplomatic Circle Kansai visited the Yanmar Agribusiness plant in Okayama, one of the Yanmar Group's main production facilities and a center for agricultural machinery development in Japan. The plant specializes in the manufacture of tractors, combine harvesters, and rice transplanters, serving both the domestic market and international agricultural sectors.

Beyond conventional machinery, Yanmar Agribusiness is actively investing in the future of farming. The company is advancing automation technologies that reduce labor demands in agriculture, an increasingly critical issue in Japan given its aging farming population. It is also developing agrivoltaics, a growing field that combines solar energy generation with crop cultivation on the same land, reflecting Yanmar's commitment to sustainable land use and food production.

The delegation was received by company executives and taken on a guided tour of the production facility, followed by a presentation on Yanmar's latest technologies and a Q&A session. The visit offered a grounded perspective on how a major Japanese agri-machinery manufacturer is bridging traditional agricultural equipment with next-generation robotics and digital solutions for smart and sustainable farming.

Our special thanks go to Consul General Chandru Appar and Vice Consul Pankaj Garg (India) for their dedicated efforts in coordinating this visit.
