On September 6, the Science & Technology Diplomatic Circle Kansai had the honor of visiting Takeda Pharmaceutical, a leading multinational biopharmaceutical company. Over the years, Takeda has grown to become a global leader in delivering life-saving medicines and therapies, driven by its patient-focused, R&D-driven approach. It ranks among the top 20 largest pharmaceutical companies in the world by revenue. We were given an in-depth overview of Takeda's advanced research and development efforts. Takeda's commitment to innovation and excellence in the pharmaceutical industry was evident through their state-of-the-art laboratories and research centers, where scientists and engineers are continuously working on groundbreaking treatments.

During our insightful visit, we learned that Takeda's facility in Osaka is poised to become a hub for their cutting-edge initiative: under 72-hour delivery of stem cell-based medicine for Crohn's disease patients. This critical advancement highlights Takeda's commitment to rapidly providing specialized treatments that significantly improve patient outcomes. We had the opportunity to observe the processes involved in drug development, from early-stage research to clinical trials and production. The tour provided a comprehensive understanding of Takeda's dedication to improving global health through the development of novel therapies.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our colleagues John Tjahjanto Boestami & Dody Sembodo Kusumonegoro (Indonesia) and Simon Psenner (Austria), who coordinated the tour of this cutting-edge facility.
