On February 18, the S&T Diplomatic Circle Kansai explored the world of advanced electronics components at Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., visiting their Nagaoka Division in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto. Founded in Kyoto in 1944, Murata has grown from a local ceramics specialist into one of the world's foremost electronics component manufacturers, holding dominant global market shares in capacitors, filters, sensors, and high-frequency parts that power everything from smartphones to electric vehicles.

Murata's strength lies in its mastery of ceramic passive components, the often-invisible yet essential building blocks of modern electronics. The company supplies critical components across automotive, communication, and industrial applications, making it a quiet but indispensable force behind much of today's connected world. The Nagaoka Division serves as one of the company's key research and production centers, reflecting the deep roots Murata maintains in the Kyoto region where it was born.

The delegation began with a guided tour of the Murata Innovation Museum, which offered a compelling journey through the company's technological evolution and its contributions to the global electronics industry. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation on Murata's current activities and strategic vision, delivered by the Vice President of Corporate Technology Planning. The visit concluded with a Q&A session, during which members gained valuable insights into Murata's forward-looking approach to component innovation and its role in enabling next-generation technologies.

Our special thanks go to Consul General András Kerekes (Hungary) for his efforts in coordinating this visit.
